My students need these whiteboards, markers, and erasers so that they can participate in classroom activities that will help them understand the value of their voices.

Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
Help my students understand how valuable they are and the impact they can make! As with many of us today, it may be hard to share our ideas/answers because we're afraid of being wrong. This is a struggle that my students face, but I hope to create safe opportunities for them to overcome their fear.
My students come from a high-poverty community in California and experience many adversities that keep them from receiving the quality care and education that they each deserve.
The school that they attend has limited resources that barely meet their academic, social, and emotional needs. My hope is to provide them with a quality education where they can fully and freely explore who they are and find value in the communities that they come from. As a social justice educator, I want to create a safe learning environment for these students to make sense of their world and understand their individual roles in impacting their communities.
My Project
The whiteboards, markers, and erasers will be a helpful tool in ensuring that every student has an equal opportunity to share his or her thoughts. During whole-group activities, I can monitor which students have a profound understanding of the content and which students may need more assistance in grasping the concept. Using this method of monitoring, I can create a space where less-confident students feel safe to share their thought-processes and answers.
In addition to teaching students how to value their own voices, I also want them to learn how to value one another's ideas as well. During small-group activities or learning centers, students can use these materials to collaborate with one another. The whiteboards serve as a convenient way for students to share answers as well as helping one another recognize mistakes more efficiently. In this way, we can create a safe community of learners who are receptive to receiving and giving help.
The main reason why I decided to become a teacher was because I want to empower individuals in believing that they are of great value and worth.
I want them to learn how to value their voices and use it to make a difference in their communities. By blessing my students with these materials, you would also be helping them recognize their value, which is something that they will deeply appreciate.
