This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

My school serves children from kindergarten through eighth grade. About 92% of the students in the school live at or below the poverty line. We are a full-service, inclusion school which means we teach all students with behavioral, social-emotional​, or learning needs. My students work hard and are excited to learn.

Every day the morning announcements end with "What can you do today to make our school more kind, caring, and inclusive?"

My classroom consists of 20 students. Seven of my students have Individual Education Plans (IEP) for a range of needs. More than half of my students are bilingual, and English is not their primary language.

My Project

This project will allow me to provide every third grade student with a hat and gloves to keep them warm for the winter months. Some kids come to school with these items on and somehow loose them during the day and then some kids never show up with a hat and gloves and they are always cold. The hand cream, lip balm and snacks are also a necessity for these cold winter months that are quickly coming.

Providing the necessary winter essential items to my students ensures that they will be in school everyday!

That is always my goal. I do not want students to miss school, because they are not properly dressed for the weather. My kids are always looking for snacks too, so this project would provide additional snacks to keep their bellies full.
