Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Project
Living in New York, our winters have become longer and colder. As a result, our students need warm winter gear. Our school provides free lunch and breakfast to all of our students. This year, we even gave out free backpacks and water bottles to our students in need. Many of our students are from neighborhoods that are around our school and so choose to walk to school every day. We also provide bussing, but even then, students have to walk to the bus stop and wait in the cold every morning.
I would like to give each of my students hats, gloves, and warm socks so that they are prepared for the winter frost.
Over the last few years, we have had bitterly cold winters. Without proper winter gear, my students will not be prepared to walk to the bus stop or to school. I want each and every one of them to stay healthy and warm as they tackle the job of getting to school each and every day.
