My Students

My sixth-grade mathematicians come from all different backgrounds, but they are all eager to learn new math skills and concepts. Our school is a Title I school, and more than half of my students receive free and reduced-price lunch. We were significantly impacted by Hurricane Irma. We have lost the use of our entire administrative building on campus, and, in addition, many students suffered damage at home.

Our school is a technology-driven school which is one-to-one with classroom technology.

This gives our students the opportunity to learn on and use technology that may not have been otherwise available to them at home.

My Project

Our school has a homeless population of over 20 students and even more in significant need. During the school year, we are able to provide these students with free breakfast, lunch and have some supporters that are able to help us send home a small bag of food for the weekend. These students depend on this help to make it from one day or week to the next.

While many of us are home celebrating the holidays with our families these students and their families are worried about where their next meal will come from.

Our school has a winter break that lasts 18 days. I would love to provide bags of food to help feed them and their families during this time.

If this project is funded it would not necessarily be for just students in my classroom but our school social worker would distribute them to the homeless and needy families in our school. Please consider helping me make sure our students are able to be fed during this holiday season.
