My students need a computer for advanced class assignments as well as for club works. The current computer can barely show a video and is older then they are.

My Students
Students everywhere deserve a world in which the only working windows in the classroom aren't displaying sport fields or bleak buildings. My students have a great desire to learn, but the technology in our room acts as a road block. We have a projector that can barely be used due to the computer.
My students are good kids who come from a rougher area of Miami.
They are voracious learners but are being limited by a set of circumstances outside of their control.
Most of the technology they are used to comes in the form of cell phones and whatever tech happens to be lying around a classroom that they are a part of. They deserve the opportunity to see a new piece of technology that isn't only four inches large. The students are hard workers but can often fall into a pessimistic mindset when they compare circumstances within our school to those of the others schools within our district. New schools and magnets are opening throughout the district and the friends they knew in middle school are being divided, not just by the schools but by the technology in the schools as well. (And the newer buildings, but I don't suppose you guys can do anything about that.) They can do anything they believe they can, and with or without the new technologies they will be able to achieve.
My Project
We have a CTE program that allows for the students to use the computers while they are in the classroom, but outside of that room students have limited availability of technology for that class or others. The students will be able to use the laptop to do both work and for fun. The Anime and Manga club will also be able to finally watch anime without having to pause while the computer considers if it would like to make it to the end of a movie or not. The laptop will be able to hook up to the Promethean boards so the boards can actually run properly, right now they function like projectors that are slightly sluggish. We also got a set of clickers we inherited from another teacher that as of yet take too much memory with our older laptops. With a new laptop, we can use the clickers so students who don't have cell phones with them or charged can still take part in kahoot it typed activities.
So many of my students only have experiences with out of date technology that they don't realize the bearing it will have on their futures.
My students will be better prepared for the world if they can truly get an idea of what is out there in it.
