My Project
My students are curious, compassionate, and full of questions about the world and their place in it. They come from diverse backgrounds and bring unique stories, ideas, and energy into our classroom every day. As 5th graders, they are developing not only as readers but as thoughtful citizens of the world. I want them to see themselves in the books they read—and to discover new perspectives that expand their understanding and empathy.
Our current classroom library has many well-loved titles, but it needs refreshing.
Some books are falling apart, and others don’t reflect the diversity of the world my students live in. I’m seeking support to build a library that includes diverse voices, inclusive stories, and high-interest favorites. Every book I’ve chosen will help meet my students where they are—and take them where they want to go.
These books will be used during independent reading time, book clubs, read-alouds, and small group instruction. They will support social-emotional learning, cultural awareness, and academic growth across subjects. Most importantly, they’ll show students that their stories matter—and so do the stories of others.
