My Project
Help my students prepare for Part 2 of their journey through perspective as they engage in a series of relevant young adult literature that highlights the varying perspectives of youth today (both immigrant children residing in the United States and youth native to the United States). With their first Wish List text, "Does this Make My Head Look Big", I sought to offer my students a window to view the perspectives of immigrant children within the United States.
However, this text, "Monster", offers a mirror shedding light on the harsh realities many of their demographic have faced and possibly will by giving them an opportunity to grapple with the "why".
My desire is to offer students a moment of reflection while simultaneously strengthening their timed reading skills and encouraging endurance in their reading to complete the whole text through the use and implementation of a class wall timer.
