Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Project
I work with a diverse population of 7th and 8th-grade students in the Bronx, many of whom are creative and love working with a variety of materials! This project will enable my students to create multi-media projects utilizing high-quality markers, colored pencils, artists' pencils, and oil crayons. My goal is to plan and implement meaningful cross-curricular art projects that enable my students to connect to the academic curriculum through visual art.
My students will use all of the art materials to create self-portraits in 4 media that express the students' unique identities, as well as culturally responsive art projects that celebrate Black History, Women's History, Hispanic Heritage, Japanese Art & Craft, and a variety of artistic perspectives.
