This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My students are stars, every single one, and they represent the hopes and dreams of the world's future. I teach 7th grade Language Arts, and many of my students come from low income families.
I'm a second year teacher who would very much like to provide my students with access to a collection of books that captivate and stimulate the mind, strengthen critical thinking skills and broaden views on the world at large.
I have selected a collection of books that cover such topics as fitting in, being a foster child, discrimination, adoption and death, as well as books involving mystery, adventure, misfortune and triumph. I truly believe that these books will provide the foundation for a classroom library that will truly have something for everyone. My wish is to one day have the kind of library that not only gets kids excited about reading, but perhaps addresses in one way or another every problem, issue, question that my young students have or are faced with while growing up in the world today.
