My Project
My students make me want to come to work every day. Their ability to grow and learn as juniors in high school makes working with them very rewarding. They are shifting from being older kids to having a more adult perspective. As such, I like to expose them to as many new ideas, cultures, and possibilities as possible.
English teachers frequently divide books into two categories - windows and mirrors.
Mirrors let readers see worlds like their own. How are others like them, or who have experienced similar things, responding to these changes? It is comforting to see people like yourself and other possible paths you can take in your life.
Windows allow us to see a world unlike our own. It can be from a different culture, race, planet, or just a different perspective. They give us the opportunity to experience things we otherwise would never be able to.
