This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
Have you ever tried to play a clarinet without the reed? If you have, you know that it doesn't work! That is the challenge that my students are facing!
We are an inner city Title I School in Connecticut.
This is my first full year as the band director there, and we are having a blast. The problem comes when we try to get supplies for our program. With budget cuts, supplies for band are nonexistent, and I can't always purchase what we need with my own money.
My Project
I am asking for reeds for my beginning clarinet and alto saxophone players. They work really hard and deserve every chance to play and make music that I can give them, but that is only possible with help! They can only play with a reed, and since buying their own is not always a possibility I would like to be able to get them reeds!
Just because we cannot afford these things ourselves doesn't mean that we shouldn't be able to have them.
My students deserve the best and they deserve every opportunity that I can give. Please help me give them music.
