Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
Our school community is in an impoverished urban area and is comprised of over 900 middle school students who come from many different backgrounds and countries.
Our students will be participating in a district wide independent reading challenge and need incentives to motivate them to read.
My Project
Most of our students do not have access to books at home. The students love getting a free new book. I have given new books away to students and their parents that were donated to the school and it was like a reading frenzy!
Having a chance to earn a free copy of the latest Diary of a Wimpy Kid book will help motivate our students to participate in the reading challenge.
Along with the announcement of this reading challenge I plan to promote our digital book collection. I am enthusiastic about our students exploring our digital books which they can connect to on a personal level.
