My Project

Hello! I have taught general education for the past ten year, however, this year I transitioned into a special education role. I have been learning a TON this year. I was able to attend the Wilson Reading System introductory workshop this past month and the learning was fantastic! We were even given materials, however they were only enough for one student. With a growing case load of 16, one just will not do! When I looked at the website and saw how expensive a class set was I was a bit deflated. These materials would be so beneficial for my students, but they are not in my personal budget or the school budget. I am turning to the place and generosity of people that always help fill my classroom with materials and books my student's need, Donors Choose.

My hope for my students is once they unlock their difficulties with decoding, with the help of these materials, they will be excited to read, learn about their passions, and explore spaces that only books can take us!

This project will positively impact my classroom because it will provide my students with the materials to help the students reach their reading goals. The Wilson materials will help them begin to close their reading gaps to get closer to grade level. These materials are paramount to differentiating my instruction to meet all of my students' needs in reading.
