My Students
My third grade students are eager to learn. They are curious, creative, and have great imaginations even though we are a Title I school in a high poverty neighborhood.
Most of my students live in public housing which is why I need your help to help my students thrive over this virtual time due to Covid-19.
Their neighborhoods are rough and school is a place for them to be safe. My class is mostly African American children who face a lot of challenges.
My job, as a teacher, is to help my students overcome these challenges and become the amazing adults I know they can become.
My Project
For those of you who have been following me, you know I am passionate about getting students to read part of that is because my daughter has dyslexia and I have seen the struggle. I am getting my masters in reading. I am lucky enough that I have been trained in how to use the Wilson reading program to close reading gaps. My daughter has been taught using the Wilson program for years and I have seen the success as a parent.
Now as a teacher, I want to implement the Wilson program in my small group but I need these magnetic boards and letter tiles in order to be successful.
The challenge to close the reading gap, that has widened during this virtual year will be difficult. My students need every possible resource I can provide to help them succeed.
As always, I can not do this alone, I need your help. Any donations will be greatly appreciated. Thank you.
