Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

My class room is in a school located in a low economic area of the city. Our students do not have access to the many of the latest trends on an everyday basis. Availability of equipment is limited. The students love robots and STEM challenges. We are striving to become a major contender.

Our students are great!.

however, we are located in an area of town where many of the residents do not take full advantage of the educational system. Many do not attain a high school education. For this reason, our school strives to offer a variety of resources for extracurricular activities, to encourage and light a spark for continued educational opportunities. The students for the most part show great interest in technology, but their parents may not be in a position to provide the technology needed to compete in today's society. We have a few challenging students, who, when given that extra push, with the right experiences, thrive and show growth in all areas. Inappropriate conduct for example, is put in check.

My Project

This Mindstorms EV3 kit will allow a group of students to work cooperatively for a sustained period of time. These students may develop the confidence and skill to compete in the STEM challenges through the city. Creating questions, doing research, brainstorming and developing designs will definitely build self esteem, knowledge, and the ability to work with others to solve problems.

This kit will definitely make a difference in the lives of the students.

When a child knows that someone is there, offering a safe place to await a parent in the afternoon, in an after school program, perhaps, it improves their disposition.
