My students need one HP netbook computer to increase my students' access to technology in the classroom.

My Students

The students in my classroom represent the countries of Bosnia, Columbia, England, Germany, Greece, India, Iraq, Jamaica, Mexico, Pakistan, the Philippines, and the United States of America. Our diverse community is filled with students who are excited and eager to learn.

Over 90% of our students receive free or reduced lunch and 28 languages are spoken among our community.

Immigrants, refugees and neighborhood students come to our school each day to learn and engage side by side. Each student brings a rich history to our school and their diversities must be met by providing them an individualized education.

My Project

We need a netbook computer to expand our access to technology in our classroom. When I look across my classroom I see each child actively engaged in the task set before him or her. Recently, we received two HP netbook computers and the level of engagement increased dramatically. Students are excited to review videos they've recorded on a FlipCam, utilize websites to answer a question they have, or play on one of the many games that practice academic skills without seven and eight year olds realizing it!

The gift of the netbook will continue to allow me to individualize the curriculum for each student.

They can visit websites and complete activities that provide exactly what they need. It also puts students in charge. These are their laptops where they can put together sideshows, Voice Threads, Story Birds and engage in the world on their terms. Your generosity will allow all of my students the opportunity to use a computer daily.
