My Students
I am a special education teacher in a Title I, self-contained elementary school located in New York City. I teach Kindergarten students diagnosed with autism spectrum disorder and other various learning disabilities. Students in my classroom have poor fine and gross motor skills and limited language. They are visual, kinesthetic learners and require hands-on materials and technology to aid them in reaching their individual goals.
We are a center-based, hands-on classroom that provides students with exciting and interesting opportunities to practice, enrich, and enhance their learning all while encouraging independence and provide students with an abundance of opportunities and supports to achieve success at their own level.
My students require colored visuals to help distinguish between various photographs to foster their individual learning.
My Project
In my classroom, my students require a variety of colored visuals to help them learn. A color printer would help me create engaging activities, lessons and hand-on materials for my students. Color helps to catch the attention and engage students in their learning. A color printer will allow me to print real life pictures that will assist my students in making stronger connections.
Having a color printer will allow me to create and distribute materials to help my students achieve their individualize educational goals, both in the classroom and during remote learning.
