My Students
I have the privilege of teaching social-emotional and academic learning to all students PK-5th in our rural elementary school! Our school climate is made up of 556 students, half African American and half Caucasian. Due to COVID 19, our school is currently 100% free and reduced lunch. Our class size is around 22 per class, 100 per grade level. My students are special because no one really moves away from home. Most of our students have been in the same school since PK and will continue to go through graduation! It’s a small town with high teacher retention so everyone truly knows everyone! With your help, I will be able to transform the space in my classroom where students will feel even more comfortable sharing with each other on a deeper level, develop in-depth friendships, and feel safe and secure! With the pandemic, our school has been able to be in person 5 days a week and SEL is becoming a priority! Thank you for your consideration of donating to aid our students in reaching their fullest potential physically, mentally, and socially!
My Project
I have the opportunity of teaching K-5th grade social emotional lessons that aid with coping strategies to become a productive citizen in our society! Through the use of wiki stixs, students will be able to create things to help express their feelings and situations that they are currently facing. It is amazing what children share through free play such as drawing, painting, play doh and more! Wiki Stixs are a joy to utilize and they keep little hands busy while their mouths share about what is truly going on so I can help!
