Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
My students are an inclusive mixture of Special Education students and English Language Learners--many of whom come from low-income families. As a result, many of my students lack academic and English language support at home.
My students are eager learners and hard workers!
They love the Chicago Cubs, Ritz crackers during snack time, and rocking out to Kidz Bop during a bathroom break. Their curiosity and love for learning will help them achieve so much this year. Help us learn and grow in a cozy room to call our own!
My Project
Recent studies show that foreign language classrooms need to be furnished with flexible seating to accommodate a wide range of teaching (and learning) styles. My hope for this project is that it will foster positive academic and social relationships among my students and create an environment where students are excited to learn!
A variety of seating arrangements allows me to design cooperative learning activities--showing students that language is a means of communication and not only a subject for memorization.
Besides, who wants to sit in a plastic chair all day when cozy pillows and cushioned chairs are an option?
