My Students
Our students sought out our school based on our emphasis in STEM: Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics. The students in my classroom are very passionate about science and inquiry based learning.
By nature, they are hands-on learners, and always on the move, investigating the world around them!
Due to the fact that my students are such active learners, some of them are in need of movement while performing daily activities. They simply cannot sit still for prolonged periods of time.
My Project
My students need daily movement while they are learning. They would LOVE to be able to use active learner stools everyday to get their wiggles out while engaging in intense instruction. These stools would allow them to move their bodies on comfy chairs while performing different tasks in the classroom. The danger of children falling out of chairs due to leaning backward in them would be eliminated. I currently experience at least 3 children a day that fall out of their chairs. It worries me to no end, and I wish I could provide them with a healthy seating alternative.
