My Students
My students are special because of their differences! I have an ethnically diverse group of third graders who are excited to learn new things. I have 5 students with special needs. Some of those needs include Autism Spectrum, Attention Deficit Disorder, Auditory Processing Disorder, and Sensory Processing Disorder.
I really want to bring curriculum to my students in ways that they need it the most.
I hope to supply those students who need an alternative teaching method or environment the tools to be successful.
My Project
Last year, I was able to make my dream come true by converting my class to flexible seating. The response has been amazing! I've had parents donate other flexible seating options to my room. Our PTO got involved and made a very generous contribution.
The only thing my class currently lacks is the addition of some more lap desks.
During instruction times, my students sit on the community carpet. Not everyone has a lap desk to write on, often having to write on a spare folder. With the addition of these requested LapGear Student Lap Desks, I hope to take away the obstacles to being able to stay focused.
