I have an amazing class of 7 and 8 year olds who love to move! Who wants to sit still in a chair all day? I want the kids to be able to move or sit at high and low tables.
Currently, my students get to sit a high table, a low table, desks, and a regular table.
They get a choice to sit where they want. Most like to sit on the floor at a low table! I want to give them more spaces to sit on the floor.
My Project
I have started the process of flexible seating. I have one low table that sits near the floor and the kids sit on cushions. I used my personal cushions from my outdoor furniture! The kids LOVE it! They get to pick where they sit each week and this low table with cushions is always the first picked! I want to be able to make another low table and have more cushions for them to sit on. They have to be heavy duty so they can last for the year or more!
The flexible seating allows kids to sit anywhere other then a hard desk chair for 8 hours a day.
