My Students
My students love to learn! These third graders haven't experienced a "normal" school year since kindergarten, but that hasn't squashed their love of learning. Every day, these kind, sweet, eager humans enter our classroom ready to fill their minds with new information and challenging themselves to grow.
Together, every staff member works diligently, daily to provide our kiddos with a safe and nurturing environment where students are held to high expectations, both academically and socially.
Watching their growth is one of the greatest joys. It is an honor to help these kids believe in themselves - whether that means raising a hand in class, getting up to speak in front of a group, or taking the lead in group projects.
My Project
My students have spent the majority of the last 20 months being at-home learners. This means they have had the ability to learn from the comfort of their couch or bed. Imagine now being asked to sit in classroom chairs! Oh my! We take lots of movement breaks and incorporate additional movement into many of our learning activities, but having some seating and workspace options that would allow students to "work while wiggling" would be a benefit to all.
A standing desk would permit those who need to get up and stretch while working to do so without interrupting others or drawing attention to themselves.
Third graders are also at the age where growing pains occur, and a standing desk allows students to continue being active learners while moving those legs a bit.
Wobble chairs will give students the opportunity to remain at their desk while engaging various parts of their body which keeps them alert and in focus, all while not causing distractions.
This will be a great start to our flexible seating and workspace environment!
