Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
My students are wonderful kids who love to learn and have fun. They come from working class families who work hard to provide for them. Unfortunately, many of them face difficult challenges due to economic and social hardships.
Not all my students are on grade level or learn the same way.
In fact most of them need extra support, which I do my best to provide. I am lucky to have supportive colleagues and parents. We try to work together to come up with what our students need.
My Project
All young learners need to move and have different activities often, because of their limited attention span. Using Hokki stools should help them focus for longer periods of time. There are always students who need more movement and these alternative seating options offer that. They will allow these students to rock and sway as they listen or focus on their work.
Hokki stools in my classroom will help my students who have attention difficulties.
These students may have attention deficit disorders. They may be the ones who will benefit the most from these seats. They can stay focused as they wiggle around!
Nearly all students from low‑income households
Data about students' economic need comes from the National Center for Education Statistics, via our partners at MDR Education. Learn more
