Wiggles Welcome! Flexible Seating for Focus and Fun
Help me give my students flexible seating so they can stay focused, feel comfortable, and succeed in the classroom—whether they need to wiggle, bounce, or spin!
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Project
My energetic first graders are full of curiosity, excitement, and movement—and that’s a great thing! But in a traditional chair, all that wiggle energy can sometimes get in the way of their focus and learning. This project brings flexible seating options into our classroom to give students the chance to move in appropriate ways while still staying engaged and on task.
With items like donut ball chairs, peanut-shaped bounce balls, cube chairs, and a spinning sensory chair, my students will be able to choose a seating option that helps them feel calm, focused, and ready to learn.
These seats are especially helpful for students with sensory needs, attention challenges, or just a bit of extra wiggle energy.
Flexible seating gives students the autonomy to pick where and how they learn best. It supports social-emotional learning by encouraging self-awareness, decision-making, and self-regulation. With your help, we can create a classroom that’s welcoming, inclusive, and built for every kind of learner.
