My Project
Many of my students have unique sensory and motor needs that impact their ability to focus in the classroom. A dedicated motor/sensory lab will give them the opportunity to practice gross motor skills, receive calming or alerting sensory input, and learn self-regulation strategies. With resources such as a sensory peanut ball, crash pad, soft lighting, and exercise dice, students will have safe and engaging ways to meet their sensory needs throughout the school day.
When students feel regulated and in control of their bodies, they are more available for academic learning and social connections.
This space will be a vital support for students with special needs, helping them participate more fully in their classrooms and experience success both academically and socially.
