Wiggles and Giggles Welcome: Building a Responsive Learning Space
Help me give my students to access flexible seating, sensory calming manipulatives, as well as books we can share to help them regulate their behaviors /feelings.
My school is headed into its inaugural year of implementing the Responsive Classroom model, on a schoolwide level. Having flexible seating, fidget items, and social emotional based reading materials available to share and discuss with students in our Take A Break space would benefit the entire school .
This new space is designed to empower students to take responsibility for their behavior in a supportive/reflective environment.
Essentially, I want the kids in my school to be able to "Pause. Breathe. Reset" and to maximize their social and educational learning on a consistent basis, in a calming space.
My students are special because despite their age they triumphantly navigate life challenges and show up to school ready to expand their knowledge base, as well as social skills with pure hearts!
