Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
My students are hard workers at an urban inner city school. All of our students get free breakfast and lunch. More than half of my students come from families where English is not the first language, and in many cases school is their only exposure to English.
My students come to school each day excited to learn and see what the day has in store for them.
The students come from varied family situations including some who live with grandparents and some that live with other relatives.
I am always looking for ways to keep my students excited about their learning and ways to give them as many possibilities in their educational experiences.
My Project
Currently, I have two Hokki stools and 2 stability cushions in my classroom. Hokki stools allow students to work their core and wiggle all while staying seated at their desk. Students can also be active at their desk while sitting on a stability cushion or bouncing their feet on bounce bands while still staying engaged in learning. Some students need even more space and movement by laying in a bean bag which allows for them to have unlimited movement on the floor while they work.
My students are begging for more Hokki stools and other ways for them to move while learning throughout the school day.
They love to wiggle and move so they can not only focus on their work, but engage in a healthy lifestyle.
Students love working and wiggling during lessons. Hokki stools, stability cushions, bounce bands, and bean bags also help students' behavior. They allow for interactive and engaging learning. Please help my hardworking students get these extra materials that they deserve!
