My Students
My students are 7 years old and have been out of school due to covid for approximately 1.5 years. They are eager learners and excited to be with their peers on a regular basis. Some of my little learners have not been in physical school for most of their academic careers. Many have been learning from home, in their own learning environments such as in bedrooms, hallways, kitchens, and at coffee tables. Many have not been required to sit in a chair, at a desk, and with many, other children nearby. I'd like to provide alternative seating for parts of our day. Each child needs their own personal space.
My Project
Due to Covid, my students will need their individual space for morning "math wall" activities and for ""phonics practice after a.m. recess. Currently we have no designated personal spaces and they are distracting one another at learning time. If students had their own personal space, they wouldn't be close enough to touch and poke one another as often. Its hard for a seven year old to comprehend their "own space" when there isn't a designated spot just for them. Please understand that these children haven't been among their peers since mid-kindergarten so they're out of practice with how to behave in a classroom setting. This is not a want, it is a definite need.
