Wiggle Wobble Kinder Seats

My students need 7 wobble chairs so they can work on core muscle strength as they sit during reading groups. The black wobble chairs will allow for movement within acceptable classroom boundaries.

My Students

My students are amazing little bundles of joy! They bounce right into class full of energy and smiles. Many of my students have never been in school before and I want them to have a great kindergarten experience. At five years old, most of my students have short attention spans and have the need to move. Our full-day kindergarten classroom is full of students who mostly live below the poverty line and who have not had preschool. It is often challenging for many students to adapt to the classroom and especially difficult to build their sitting stamina.

My Project

My students want chairs that allow them to move their bodies. They don't like being told to stop rocking or tipping back in their standard school chairs. As we learn about how to keep our bodies safe and healthy, we know that we have rules for important reasons. To help students harness their energy, wobble chairs will be used when typical chairs aren't meeting students' needs. We know that wobble chairs are specially designed to let students sit and focus, yet wobble enough to meet their sensory needs. As kindergarteners develop, they build core strength and balancing skills. Providing them with wobble seats will build core strength and be a safe alternative to standard chairs. My students know that they have to be responsible and use our materials wisely. They will take ownership of the requested materials and enjoy using them in class.
