This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
Some of my students have an incredibly hard time sitting still and focusing on their learning. They need freedom of movement during class. However, the chairs we currently have tend to tip, fall, and cause even more disruption when a wiggly fifth grader can't sit still. Hokki stools will let them learn.
I teach a dynamic group of 5th graders who come to school each day to build a better future for themselves.
Over 90% of the students in our Title 1 school receive free or reduced lunch, and over 25% of them are English language learners. Our school strives to have a "No Excuses" attitude when it comes to preparing our students for successful futures. We utilize technology throughout instruction, and incorporate character education and college readiness in all we do. My students are destined for success, and I will do whatever it takes to prepare them for that.
My Project
In a group of thirty-four, ten to twelve year old students, there are going to be some who just need to wiggle and move around. Those students will benefit so much by being able to sit on the Hokki stools I am requesting. Hokki stools will help my wiggly students to focus on their work while getting the movement they need. My goal is to eventually have enough Hokki stools so that all of my students who need some wiggle time, can have one to use. Giving my students the opportunity to move and wiggle on the Hokki stools while they work, will improve their posture, balance, and will allow them to focus on learning rather than focusing on trying to sit still. The entire class will benefit from these stools because wiggly students will no longer be distracted or distracting. Instead, everyone will be on task and ready to work, ready to learn.
Your donation to this project will help my entire class.
Some kids just need to wiggle and move or they can't focus all day in class. Adding these Hokki stools to our classroom will enable these students to get the wiggles out so they can focus on their learning. My goal is to get a set of these stools but for now, every few will benefit many.
