Wiggle, Wiggle! Alternate Seating Helps Little Ones Concentrate!
My students need flexible seating options to be successful learners in the classroom. Kids like to be comfortable and move when necessary, so why not provide them with materials appropriate for that?
FULLY FUNDED! Ms. Laura Ann Smith's classroom raised $209
This project is fully funded
My Students
My students are unique and hardworking scholars. I teach in a small city in Warner Robins, GA with 100% free/reduced price lunch. Most of our students come from the neighborhood around my school, which creates a strong sense of family and community involvement. However, my students still face the additional challenges that poverty can bring. Despite the various challenges that my students and their families face, my students work hard to overcome their obstacles to ensure that they are on a path to success. They are bright, sweet individuals who light up my day every time I see them.
They deserve to have access to engaging texts in order to continue the love of literacy they are developing.
My Project
Alternate seating has been found to be the My biggest benefit to students who use alternative seating options in their classrooms. This gives better attention/focus, less restlessness, and increased participation. I feel students need flexible seating options to be successful learners in the classroom. Kids like to be comfortable and move when necessary, so why not provide them with materials appropriate for that?
Big balls or gym balls, Clipboards for carpets seats, Fidget bands for chairs or desks, Lap desks
Pillows or materials to make any comfortable reading area. By having these options students will have more success in their learning by being able to have better attention and less restlessness.
Nearly all students from low‑income households
Data about students' economic need comes from the National Center for Education Statistics, via our partners at MDR Education. Learn more
