My Students
We are a dynamic group of International Baccalaureate kindergarten students in beautiful Colorado! We love learning about anything and everything, but we especially love how the world is opened up to us through our IB program!
We love learning about our world, and the people in it, as well as how we can become innovative, life-long learners, and amazing world citizens!
Kindergarten is such an important school year, as it sets the stage for all years that follow! I strive to make my students' first school experiences wonderful!
My Project
I have been working to make my classroom as developmentally appropriate and child-centered as I possibly can! Kindergarten kids are expected to learn so much, and while they are ready to rise to the occasion, they are still excitable, wiggly, fun-loving 5 and 6 year-olds!
A basic school table and hard plastic chair is not necessarily the best learning environment for all students.
I have been implementing a variety of flexible seating options this year and I have been teaching my students to listen to their bodies and their minds when choosing a learning environment for themselves. I would love to add the option of these wobble stools as an additional seating option. I have seen lots of research and wonderful reviews from other teachers on the benefits of these types of stools, and how they can help kids keep moving and fidgeting, while still working hard!
