My Students
Teaching in a low-income/title-1 school means that majority of our students are coming to school with baggage. No matter if this baggage is being hungry, excessively tired, or difficulties at home, it is our job as educators to provide a positive, loving and supporting environment that encourages learning and growth.
My students are bright, witty and loving; however, many have issues with attention, focus, and regulating emotion.
These students shoot for the stars in their dreams and aspirations despite their tough hand they have been dealt. They are truly inspiring individuals who deserve every opportunity to do their best in school.
My Project
My students are bright but majority have an extremely difficult time calming their bodies, focusing their attention and concentrating on their school work. Research shows that flexible seating like the exercise balls and seating additions like the Bouncy Bands for Desks positively impact the attention and focus of students with ADHD and other learning disabilities, which many of my students struggle with. I have tried many different things to help my students focus and have come up short. I firmly believe that these adjustments to their desks and the addition of flexible seating will greatly increase their focus and engagement.
By donating to my project you will not only help to improve and increase student attention and focus, you will ultimately help to increase their academic achievement.
My students will be able to wiggle and fidget while still being able to be productive and stay engaged. They will have a safe and effective way to control their impulses while increasing their focus and concentration.
