This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
First graders love to wiggle. Their primary modes of transportation are skipping, jumping, and running. Sitting still in school for hours is impossible for them!
My students are amazing kids, who absolutely love to learn.
They put in their best effort everyday, but they struggle to stay focused in class. We are a Title I school with over 75% percent of our students on free and reduced lunch. We have students who come from many different cultural backgrounds. We also provide two meals every day including a free breakfast program to make sure our kids have food in their bellies to start their day.
My Project
I am requesting 5 wobble stools and 5 wobble cushions for my classroom. I currently have one of each that I bought with my own funds for a student who has ADHD. These tools have helped him immensely with his academic work. The ability to move around while he works has been a game changer for him!
I would love to extend this opportunity to more students in my classroom. My ultimate goal is to have flexible seating throughout my entire room so students can sit on whatever works best for them. These wobble stools allow students to move back and forth while they work without falling off or breaking the seat. My students will be able to use this throughout the entire day to help them stay focused and on task.
Expectations for children are rising with testing and more rigorous course work.
The least I can do for my students is provide them with different tools to help them succeed. These wobble stools and cushions will assist my students in performing to their best ability.
