My Students
Every year I am lucky enough to teach 2nd grade students that have unique backgrounds and come from all around the world. With every new class, my goal is to build a strong classroom community. Through out the week, students write wonderful compliments to each other that are read on Fridays. Regardless of what they write, it's a joy to see what they have to say! It's just one way they show what a kind and caring bunch they are!
We are an active bunch who love to have brain breaks, play educational games, and have time to just enjoy a good book.
Their creativity knows no bounds. This is a great group of kids who are ready to learn!
My Project
Students in the elementary setting benefit from movement and need an outlet for their energy. Occupational therapists say that if students are given the chance to move while seated, they will be more focused and engaged in their learning. 2nd graders are expected to stay on task for 20 minutes, which can be very difficult for many students. These Hokki Stools will help by letting students wiggle while they work!
In my classroom, I want to address the unique needs of each student and create a flexible learning environment.
One way is by providing a variety of seating options. Students can choose to stand, sit on chairs or the floor, or even lay down. They just need to choose a spot where they are ready to learn! These Hokki Stools will support students who need to move to stay focused. They will be a great addition to my flexible learning environment!
