Wiggle While We Learn

My students need flexible seating options so they may do their best learning while wiggling if needed. (Hokki stools, balance balls, stability wobble cushions).

My Students

I teach in a Title I school where students come to us from many different backgrounds. These students need to learn responsibility and love to learn.

I have a class of 18 eager to learn first graders.

We would love to choose where we sit to learn. Research shows that students are more willing to participate in their learning when they are comfortable and able to wiggle while learning. With our materials, we hope to promote independence and responsibility while selecting our seats.

My Project

Through flexible seating, I will provide all types of learners with options for seating. The Hokki Stools, balance balls, and wobble seats will allow the students to show responsibility for their learning and increase their attention to the task while getting their wiggles out during instruction. This project will be exciting, motivating, and fun; the way learning is meant to be.

With the materials provided from this grant, the students will be able to wiggle while learning.

Research has shown that when students move while learning and make choices on their seats, they are more apt to pay attention to the instruction being presented.
