Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

First grade is magical. I want them to feel connected and excited to come to school each day. My students love learning new things.

The materials will make a difference because they will allow students to choose seating that works best for them.

I want to be able to provide students with different choices in the classroom. The wobble stools will allow students to rock while they work on assignments at their desks. The wobble cushions inflate and will give them the chance to bounce and make a standard chair special. They can also use these when sitting on the floor. The chair bands will keep their feet busy because it's hard to sit still when you are 6 years old. The yoga balls will let them bounce and get their wiggles out.

Studies have shown that students need to be able to wiggle to focus. The chairs will allow students to choose where they would like to sit. My students are special. They love trying out different places in the classroom and experiencing different things. Flexible seating may help students with ADHD because it helps meet their sensory needs by allowing them to rock and move. The seating also helps with engagement.

My goal is to give my first graders the best start in their educational journey and being comfortable plays a big part.
