My class has 31 students who love to learn and work best while being physically active. This school is a Title I campus, and many students may not have access to resources or extracurricular activities. In my classroom, we love to do brain breaks and use different types of seating to keep us awake and learning.
We are part of a campus that celebrates different types of learning.
The students know that when they need extra help they can always ask for it. My students are energetic, eager learners who need to move around to stay focus, and when they are given that opportunity they always work harder and have fun. We would love to provide the students with these exciting opportunities.
My Project
Flexible seating allows many opportunities for students when they enter a classroom. They allow students to be comfortable in a classroom setting, it helps students focus and it allows them to get out their energy. By having the money to buy different types of seating it allows my students to achieve things they might not achieve in normal classroom seating.
With the couple of flexible chairs that I have already, I have noticed a decrease of disruption and an increase of participation and engagement.
In addition to my current flexible seating options, having these new items will allow students to take ownership of their individual learning. The materials I have chosen will allow more students in the class to have that opportunity to take ownership. I have seen what these can do to my students and I would like the opportunity to give all my students a choice every day they come to school.
