My students need flexible seating options to help them focus on academics while allowing them to move, wiggle, and bounce while working independently or during centers.
As a teacher in a high poverty school district, my students face challenges in and out of the classroom. We are a diverse classroom with 29 active and energetic students from many backgrounds. Some of my students have special needs, IEPs, & receive speech and O.T. within the school setting. There is also a wide range of academic abilities in my classroom.
Not only are my students eager to learn and always try their hardest to do their best, they deserve the best!
They love coming to school because they want to learn all they can to be successful in life. We strive daily to balance our learning goals and objectives with fun and exploration.
My Project
Kids need to be able to move which also increases their oxygen levels and make their learning more productive. These balance balls and wobble stools will help them increase their core strength and gross motor skills while helping them better concentrate on their academics.
Flexible seating will allow my students take charge of their learning and make choices that work best for them.
During independent work time they can choose a wobble, chair, balance ball, or seat cushion and a location in the classroom that works for them.
Making sure my students are comfortable is an essential part in motivating them to learn. I want to make sure each child receives the best education they can. Some students need to wiggle around or bounce in their chairs instead of sitting in traditional stationary chairs. They can choose from the wobble stools, seat cushions, or balance balls and see what fits their needs. This will allow my students to focus better.
