This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
I teach at a Title I school in the South Bronx where all of the students receive free breakfast and lunch. The students here come from a low socio-economic group and often don't have many new and interesting learning materials at home. School is the place where they are exposed to many different things.
My students are very motivated to come to school and learn.
They love learning new things and are always ask great questions. The students get very excited when we are learning about new topics and even more so when they are using new materials!
I would love to be able to supply the students with new, exciting materials to help spark their interest in learning even more. I am hoping to be able to change the environment in my classroom to make it an even more inviting and comfortable place for students to take risks and learn. Thank you so much in advance for all of your help!
My Project
Students who are young and old often find it very hard to sit still while they are working and learning. I am looking to use new and exciting seating to help the students stay focused longer while they are working. The Flex-Space Wobble Cushions can be used while students are working on the floor or while they are sitting on a chair. They give the students the ability to wiggle a little bit without worrying about falling. This will help them stay focused for longer periods of time, in turn allowing them to produce better work (hopefully).
Giving students options can be the key to success!
Along with the Wobble Cushions, I am also excited to give the students the option of using the Flex-Ball Balance Seats (which are like yoga balls with legs so they don't tip over) and Flex-Space Wobble Chairs (which are stools that allow the students to wiggle as they work). Since small children love to move around so much, these different types of seats will give the students the ability to choose where they want to sit to allow them to do their best work.
I am so excited to be able to give the students choices on where they want to sit and work!
