My Students
After a year of online learning, hybrid learning and quarantines, my students are ready to be back fully in person! My students are from a low income area, coming from immigrant families who work hard and give what they can to support their students and classrooms. My students are engaged, creative, enthusiastic, curious, bookworm kiddos who just want to be in the classroom. My school cares deeply about the greater neighborhood community, and works to connect the bridge between the community and the school.
When it comes down to it, students and schools deserve the best so that we can raise and teach world minded and future focused citizens of the world.
My Project
With these books, I can continue to contribute to a diverse, wide ranging, empathetic, and print rich classroom library. The classroom library is my students' favorite part of the classroom, and it's my favorite to share. A print rich environment encourages students to read, which not only contributes to their literacy skills, but also helps them learn about the world from the comfort of the classroom.
With these new books, my students can expand their knowledge of the world and of life, through diverse stories, and graphic novels about different science topics that are sure to interest my students.
In our ever changing, fast paced world, our children find themselves struggling to stay awake and still, but now, with flexible seating options like these, I can encourage my students to get out their wiggles, especially when it's shown to help them concentrate, work independently, and stay engaged with their learning. Students who can take some control over their learning are students who engage in their learning!
