Wibble, Wobble! Kindergarteners on the Move!

My Students

Kindergarten students love to move! Moving is an action that helps them learn by using another one of their five senses, but sometimes, moving too much can be disruptive to a students' learning and to the learning of others.

My Kindergarten students love to be on the move!

The like to sing and dance and wiggle in their seats. Sometimes, their singing and dancing cause them to fall out of their chairs! I have other students who NEED to move. In order for some of my students to complete their work, they need to wiggle and move! Often, when my students are wiggling and moving, something in their brain is telling them they are overstimulated and the only way to work with that feeling is to move!

My Project

I would love to have these seats in my classroom to offer to my most wiggly students. Students who would otherwise have a difficult time completing their work and who sometimes disrupt others from completing their work. The amazing thing about these seats is that hidden in the very middle of the seat is a special material that wiggles with the student, causing the seat to wobble ever so slightly. When some of my wigglers are able to wiggle in a seat that wiggles with them, they are able to complete their work (and so are my other learners)! I chose these wobble seats in black so they would blend in with the seats and tables already in our classroom, so my wiggly students will not feel embarrassed to wiggle away!

Your donation will help many of my students have the chance to sit in a seat that allows them to get their wiggles out and allows them to finish their learning tasks.

Traditionally, when we have had wiggly students, we have used brightly colored wiggle cushions that stand out, and that my students love to put on their heads instead of their chairs. Wobble seats look like stools, but are child sized, and are impossible for my students to keep anywhere but on the floor.
