This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
I am a second grade English Language Development teacher at a low performing, low income school in San Francisco's Mission District. The students in my classroom represent every minority and majority group in our community. They are great kids who have to overcome many obstacles just to come to school.
I've been on my hands and knees all year trying to keep our desks held together with a combination of bolts, screws, glue and yes, even duct tape. But it's no use, we need new tables.
We just got spiffy, new non-wobbly chairs for our classroom. But now we have a new set of problems. Our desks are in terrible shape and are over 20 years old. To add insult to injury our fabulous new chairs don't fit under our old desks. New tables will solve all of these problems.
Our classroom needs 5 new round tables to make our classroom complete. My students deserve to have tables that don't wobble
Your donation will provide a new set of tables for my classroom that will be used for years to come. We need you to help us make our new tables possible. Look at my students in our picture, how can you say no to their faces? I can't either, that's why I need your help to make my classroom a better place!
More than half of students from low‑income households
Data about students' economic need comes from the National Center for Education Statistics, via our partners at MDR Education. Learn more
