This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
My students are bilingual diverse learners. They are kind and very respectful. As preteens and teenagers, they are learning new things about themselves and the world around them. They are being taught to demonstrate honor, courage, and commitment inside and outside of the classroom setting.
They work hard and they are learning to be good to all people.
We have a school-wide campaign centered around being good to all people for this year. My students love learning new skills and creating things they can share with others. They live on the Northwest side of Chicago. Most of the students come from low-income families.
My Project
This year most of our 8th graders will not have a cap and gown to wear. They will not have the tradition graduation ceremony. They will not walk across the stage when their name is called. They will have a virtual graduation ceremony at home. So to make their graduation a memorable event, I want to give all of the 8th graders a tassel. This tassel will help to make their virtual graduation special. When all the names of the peers have been called and the principal congratulates the class of 2021, they can turn their tassel to confirm their graduate status. This will also become a keepsake for all of the 8th-grade students.
