This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Project
My 5th grade students were intrigued this past month with the properties of matter and atoms, the smallest particles that make up matter. They need the experience of working together in a classroom laboratory using scientific tools. The products I have selected would be used to create a lab experience.
My students would thrive from playing the role of a scientist using scales to determine weight, microscopes to observe the smallest parts of matter up close, and tools to test the solubility of substances.
Distance learning has presented a challenging focus away from the hands-on experiences that students derive valuable knowledge from.
