My students need either bigger desks or storage bins in the classroom because space is limited. Since neither is feasible, the alternative is having At-Your-Seat-Storage Sacks to help student organize and keep their materials.

My Students
My students come from all over the globe searching for the American dream of a better tomorrow. Many would never have an opportunity to academic achievement if they had remained in their home country. The neighborhood the school is situated is in a working poor community of the Bronx.
I have a lovely class in an urban elementary school in Bronx, New York, where the population of the school is 1,400 and class sizes are at a maximum.
My students are diverse in ethnicity and ability.
My Project
Unlike previous years, my students are going to have the space they need to store and organize their books and supplies if you fund this project. One of the complaints I often hear is that a student doesn't have their book to do the work.
When asked why, they complaint that their desk is not large enough to fit all their books and they took it home and left it.
Any teacher will tell you that books either need to be made smaller or desk bigger to hold the amount of notebooks, books and supplies needed.
If we are funded for the Storage Sacks, crayons and scissors, students will be better able to organize themselves and keep all their books and materials at their seat. Isn't that what we strive for as teachers and parents to have children that are organized and have the necessary books and supplies to do their best in school? Organization is a skill that can be carried on to college and to the work place.
Often kids will share someone's workbook if they have left their at home but students miss out on class work when they don't have a workbook or a reader of their own to use. They also lose interest when they have to wait to use a scissor or crayon because there aren't enough to go around.
My adorable 2nd graders need to constantly be encourage when they are waiting around that they will get to finish their projects.
My vision is to have a class of well organized students with all their materials and having crayons and scissors that will help those that are not strong writer express their thoughts through drawings.
