Help me give my students Yoga mats and other adapted physical education equipment like poly mats, yarn ball, floor tape and hydration educational handouts to help my students have the best A.P.E. class possible.
"I never could have achieved the success that I have without setting physical activity and health goals." - Bonnie Blair This quote is related to my project because I want my students to achieve success in both staying healthy, but also by staying active.
The school I work for is a special needs school; all students have some kind of physical or educational disability.
Our school has over four hundred students in seven different locations. The location I work at is housed in a general education high school which has over three thousand students. With that many students in one school, I do not have access to the gymnasium or any open space for my students. I have eighty students that I teach adapted physical education to, and it's all done in the classroom. Before we start, desks and chairs need to be moved and safety is an issue. However, the students love to participate in A.P.E. and will do anything to help the staff and I make an appropriate space for their activities.
More than half of students from low‑income households
Data about students' economic need comes from the National Center for Education Statistics, via our partners at MDR Education. Learn more
