My Students
Science is simply a word we use to describe a method of organizing our curiosity. In our class, we are a curious bunch of students wanting to dig our hands in and explore.
I teach science and math enrichment to students in grades kindergarten through fifth grade.
My students are from a diverse school located in a suburb just blocks from Metro Detroit. The students I service come from a variety of backgrounds--many of them are immigrants and lack some of the background experiences and language experiences their peers have. In order to make learning fun for everyone, despite their varying needs, I enjoy hands on experiences that will get my students excited to learn.
My Project
I am requesting an owl pellet kit as well as hand magnifiers and gloves for my 5th grade students. The students in my two 5th grade classes study the food chain as part of the science curriculum.
With the materials that I am requesting, students will be able to have a hands on experience to understand the concept of food chains. Students will be able to manipulate the materials and work collaboratively to identify the remains contained in the owl pellets. I think this would be a fun, interactive way to bring the food chain to life!
Your donation to this project would allow my students to experience the food chain first hand.
The owl pellet kit, hand magnifiers, and latex gloves will provide my students with the resources my 5th grade students need to truly understand food chains & ecosystems.
