it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
Our school is filled with some of the most amazing, resilient young ladies and gentlemen. They have continued to their best despite all of the obstacles presented to them. The pandemic has not been easy on anyone but some of the most vulnerable, our students, have held their heads up and have done their best to continue to learn. Whether they are sitting in desks six feet apart or viewing you through a zoom meeting from the quiet of their bathroom, they show up.
The teachers are beyond proud of who they have shown themselves to be during one of the most challenging times in their lives.
My Project
Due to Covid, last year our science classes were entirely remote. Because of this, my students missed out on hands on experiences. It has always been a tradition for my 4th graders to dissect owl pellets. Last years 4th graders missed out on this. Now in 5th grade, this project will allow both my 4th and 5th grade students to experience the food chain that involves an owl. This is both gross (lol) and exciting. Students will dissect the pellet and using the bones to reconstruct the owl's prey. This is, by far, my favorite lesson to teach. I pride myself on providing hands on labs as often as possible. This project will allow every student to have their own pellet, in order to, maintain social distancing but not miss out on the experience.
